The annual seminar had been established by Corresponding Member of RAS N.I.Khitarov in 1960. It associated the scientists in the experimental physico-chemical studies in the Earth sciences.

 

The objectives of the seminar organized by the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry and Institute of Experimental Mineralogy were direct communications, facilities exchange of expertise between the scientists, identification of knowledge gaps and recommendations for experimental research.

 

The latest research results which cover a wide range of topics were discussed

-   solid phase reactions and structure transformations at high temperatures and pressures,

-   experimental and computer modelling of the phase equilibria in magmatic systems and in solution of problems in planetology, meteoritics and cosmochemistry,

-   interaction of the volatilies with melts and crystals,

-   partitioning of petrogenic, rare and ore elements in crystal-melt-fluid systems,

-   hydrothemal equilibria and ore formation,

-   thermodynamic properties of minerals and fluids,

-   physical and physico-chemical properties of geological materials

-   the geochemical monitoring of the environment within the modern megapolis and the experimental appoaches to ralated environment problems

-   the experimental technique and new research methods.

 

Proccedings of 87 contributions presented at the seminar are published in this volume in English and grouped in four chapters:
